-- Report on World Voices, World Visions Camp/Festival/Concert at URI
"World Voices, World
Visions is more like a festival than a camp.
"I learned one African
and two American folk songs, and after just four nights we were ready to perform
for the Friday concert.
"I hadn’t sung in a choir
for 25 years! Bob Franke, our choir master, re-awakened my childhood love of
folk music, and spurred me to get back to these musical roots.
"Singing a joyous African
folk-song is a much better way to learn about diverse cultures than being
lectured about it in a classroom. And it was tremendous fun!"
