WHAT
IS WORLD VILLAGE?
In line with the family orientation of the camp, children
between the ages of 5-12 can attend “World Village,” a program of activities by
which young people can build community through music, dance, crafts,
storytelling, and games.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Children between the ages of 5-12
years with parents or guardians who are
registered
participants in either
World Learning
or
World Arts.
Youth participants must have completed kindergarten to be enrolled.
PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION
World
Village offers a rich variety of expressive activities for young people. The World Voices,
World Visions theme of building community through the arts is carried throughout
this program. Activities include music, dance, drama, crafts and recreation,
and the activities draw upon the traditions of many cultures in the U.S. and
from around the world. Various artists and presenters from the
World Arts
component may visit and lead children in activities.
Enrollment is limited to 40 youths. Youths are given
a choice of 3-4 age specific workshops per period. There are four periods each
day. Refreshments are offered in the morning and afternoon.
Participants revert to the parent
or guardian's care during lunch, from 11:45-1:00 PM. World Village ends at
3:45
PM. Young people must be accompanied by
a parent or guardian who is a World Voices, World Visions registrant. Classes
are coordinated by Valerie Tutson and Clarissa Uttley with special assistance from
Remo Drums.
