2012 Application Process

Applications Available: February 15- March 21

Applications Due: By 12pm - March 21, South Lobby of Roosevelt Hall.

Interviews: March 26 - April 5 (sign up when you drop off your application)

Decisions Available: April 11

WHAT IS URI 101?

It is a 1-credit, transition course for URI Freshman. The course is facilitated by an instructor and a student mentor. The class connects new students to academic and University resources. URI 101 also i meant to introduce freshman to topics that are essential for a successful transition to college.

THE ROLE OF A MENTOR

You will hold an influential role in helping your class of 20 to 30 first year students in their transition to college. You will create an effective and comfortable partnership with your instructor and become a resourceful team for your students and each other. Working with your instructor, you will create lessons with the following objectives in mind:

    • Developing essential academic skills
    • Improving personal responsibility
    • Encouraging involvement
    • Utilizing campus resources
    • Academic and career planning
    • Importance of civic engagement
    • Diversity awareness and acceptance
