Draw A Successful URI Student

Mentors

Materials:

Large piece of paper or poster board (one per group)
Markers

Objective:

To have students work together, demonstrate creative thinking, practice communication skills, and provide a basis for discussion about the college experience.

Instructions:

Divide students into groups of 3 - 5. Ask each group to brainstorm about the characteristics, talents, and attributes necessary to be a successful student. Then, draw a picture of this student to share with the entire class.

Debriefing:

What are some of the characteristics that make up a successful URI student? Is it feasible to be all of these things and do all of these things? It’s important to find a few characteristics that are most important to you and manage yourself and your time to get there. Be reasonable with your goals.
