Evolution

Mentors

Materials:

None

Time:

15-20 minutes

Objective:

To get students up and moving around the room and laughing. This game is also used mainly to generate enthusiasm in a new group.

Instructions:

  • Everyone begins as an egg. So, they must look like an egg by squatting down.
  • Each person will then find another egg and play “rock, paper, scissors” with them. The will then “evolve” into a chicken, and the loser will stay as an egg.
  • The new chicken must then act like a chicken. They will then challenge other chickens, and only other chickens, to “rock, paper, scissors.” The winner will evolve into a dinosaur, (making appropriate gestures, big dinosaur steps and use their hands as dino claws), and the loser will then regress back into an egg.
  • Animals will challenge like animals to a game of “rock, paper, scissors.” The winner will evolve and the loser will regress to the previous form.
  • The people who win between two dinosaurs then become the highest form of evolution, The Enlightened One. They will sit down and say “OM.” They are done with the game.
  • The game continues until there are very few eggs left.
