Mentors

Materials:

Index card for each participant

Time:

20 minutes

Objective:

To demonstrate the similarities and differences of your class

Instructions:

Hand out one index card to each student write the phrase “I AM…” on the board Each student should complete the phrase three times and write it on the card. Collect the note cards and begin to randomly write the student’s responses allover the board. After that is completed, read one response out loud.  Ask the students to stand up if the response also replies to them. Have the class give them a round of applause and then have them sit down. Repeat this process until all the responses have been read.

Debriefing:

In-between each round the students will begin to notice that there are many people in the class that they have a lot of things in common with and there are also a lot of students who differ from them. Ask the students if anything surprised them or if anything was different from what they originally thought.
