Mini University

Mentors

Materials:

Index Cards
Pens or Pencils

Objective:

Allows students to demonstrate their talents, get to know each other, practice communication skills, and possibly get up and move around.

Instructions:

Distribute the index cards and pens if needed (one to each student).  Instruct the students to develop a brief (2-5 minute) course on something that they have expertise in (how to change a tire, how to get more money from your parents, how to make Easy Mac, etc.).  After each student is finished ask for volunteers to teach the class their course.

Debriefing:

How did you learn to do this skill/activity?
What do you think the best way to teach this is? Why? Is that how you learn?
What was the most comprehensive lesson to follow? Why?
How can we relate this to our academic career?
