"MTI at URI is a program that gives students an excellent way of getting out of the classroom and into a real, live learning environment where they can teach, mentor, and be a part of peoples' lives of all ages. MTI has been very beneficial to me in giving me memories and experiences with young students at the Gladstone School in Cranston during the after school program Kidventure. The people, kids, and other TAs that I work with every week are amazing and if you have the opportunity to invest in the program, do so and you won't regret it!"

"I love the MTI program because I help underprivileged students that may not ever have the opportunities that I have had throughout my education. I feel as though I really am helping these students, and they trust me and rely on me to be there for them. MTI has changed my outlook on education, and has made my career choice an easy one. "I am a senior Psychology major. I have always been interested in working with children, which is why MTI was the perfect program for me. This is my third year involved and I have had such rewarding experiences at both the schools I was placed at. Along with being a TA this semester I am also volunteering with non-native English speakers at RIFLI in Cranston, RI."

I loved working with immigrants living in Providence, not only teaching them how to read, write, and speak English, but also teaching them how to gain their citizenship."

"What I love most about the MTI program is how the students at the placement challenge and teach you something new every day. The most important lesson I have learned thus far is that every student can benefit from the guidance of an MTI mentor, which is why I still intern for the program."
