URI Artist/Teacher of Trombone, Gabriel Langfur, presents a concert with members of the MBTA, John Faieta, Wes Hopper and Don Lucas, performing original and transcribed music for trombone quartet. The program includes a wide range of music by Raymond Premru, Anthony Plog, Alun Hoddinott, Claude Gervaise and Astor Piazzolla. University Artist Series: John Monllos Ensemble. "A Slice of Jazz Guitar History with John Monllos". The guitar has a long history in jazz music, as both an ensemble and solo instrument. This concert will feature the music of select jazz guitarists such as Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joe Pass, and a few original twists. Grammy nominated pianist Joe Parillo performs with Monllos and a rhythm section. From early swing to the bossa nova style of Brazil, Latin Jazz, modern jazz of today, this concert will have something exciting for everyone! 7:30 pm. |

URI Symphony Orchestra: Ann Danis, director. This special Halloween-themed concert will feature a complete performance of Geoffrey Gibb's musical for children Dracula's Party. The afternoon activities will involve pumpkin decorating, costume judging, hayrides (depending on weather), and a concert involving the URI Symphony Orchestra and singers performing Dracula's Party, as well as other works of the season.
