18 - Samuel Kurzontkowski, Junior Bass Recital. 11am, FREE
18 - Operatic Magic:  Scenes and Orchestral Selections, 8pm
              Ann Danis and René de la Garza directors.
              Two performances of selected scenes from Mozart's The Magic Flute and
              The Marriage of Figaro, staged in a full production by the URI Opera
              Workshop.  Costumes, full orchestra, an overture from Mozart, an
              entr'act from Carmen:  the way opera should be enjoyed.  You won't
              believe your eyes and ears as Bizet's fevered dream of Spain dissolves
              into thin air and the splendor of Mozart appears suddenly for the magical
              finale?  Get your diva on!
19 - Operatic Magic:  Scenes and Orchestral Selections (matinee performance) 3pm

               Instruments will be slammed, slapped, stroked, shaken, stirred and rattled.  
               You will love the sound that comes from this 10-member group of 
               URI Music percussionists.
21 - URI Jazz Combos, Joseph Parillo coordinator.  7:30pm, FREE
               From cool to smokin' hot, from swing to salsa:  these chamber jazz groups
               will cover the standards and more.  Move yourself!
22 - URI Saxophone Studio Recital, Jared Sims faculty coach.  7:30pm, FREE
               A combination of classical and jazz repertoire:  it's all about the sax.

23 - URI Jazz Big Band, Jared Sims director.  8pm
               The 15-piece Jazz Big Band, URI Music's jazz student All-Stars, has appeared
               at the Newport Jazz festival - twice.  Come hear the band and student
               vocalists throw down an evening of great American music.  You will want
               more, too.
24 - Concert Band, Brian Cardany director.  8pm
               A springtime concert of wind band pieces by this 90 piece ensemble will
               certainly put the right Spring into your step.  Don't miss out!

                Music to lift your spirits and herald the passing of winter will be offered by
                this 30 voiced select choir of URI music students.

                Some of the greatest creations of Western classical music can be found in 
                the string quartet repertoire and that is what these high quality student
                chamber ensembles intend to offer you for this noontime concert.
26 - Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Gene Pollart director.  3pm
                Music for winds, brass and percussion from various times and places 
                presented by this elite ensemble of URI Music students.  A smorgasbord
                of wind band goodness.
26 - John Rametta, Graduate Composition Recital.  8pm, FREE
27 - Chamber Wind and Brass, Kelli O'Connor & Jaime Thorne coordinators. 7:30pm, FREE
                Here's your chance to hear music written from instrumental groups of 2-10
                players where their talent is definitely in the spotlight - sweet sounds of
                intimacy and exuberance from wind quintets, brass trios and mixed ensembles.
28 - University Chorus Concert, Audrey Cardany director.  8pm
                More Spring season signing presented by the massed voices of this spirited
                group of music students and choral music lovers from the URI community.
29 - Lively Experiment, Mark Conley director.  7:30pm
                Roger Williams felt that Rhode Island would be a "lively experiment" in the
                cause of religious freedom, Mark Conley feels the same way about his 
                elite student group when it comes to programming chamber vocal repertoire.
                You will not be disappointed!

                   A sampler of powerful spring winds from the URI alums.


14 - Lloyd Kaplan and the Jazz Aristocats.  2pm, $10.00 general admission
                   Classical pop standards played by these classical and classy gentlemen, led
                   by Lloyd Kaplan, clarinet.  Co-sponsored by the URI Chapter of the Osher
                   Lifelong Learning Institute.
