Bio
Dr. Valerie Baker received her Bachelor's from The University of Northern Iowa, and both her Master's and Doctorate from The University of Kansas. She spent several years teaching elementary general music in Ottumwa, Iowa, and continues to enjoy working with young children. While at the University of Kansas, Dr. Baker taught courses on a variety of topics in music education at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Early childhood music and current practices in elementary general music classrooms are her main areas of research. She has publications in the Journal of Research in Music Education, as well as the Bulletin for the Council of Research in Music Education. Dr. Baker has also been an assistant conductor with both the Northern Iowa Children's Choir and the Kansas University Youth Chorus.
