KIRSTEN MITAK received her Bachelor's at Rhode Island College, and both her Master's and Doctorate from the Florida State University. While at Florida State University, she had the opportunity to teach various music education and group piano courses. She spent several years as choral director and general music teacher for grades 4-7 in Mendon-Upton, Massachusetts, and has completed Level One training for both the Kodaly Institute of Learning and the Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Education Course. In addition, she has remained an active piano instructor, accompanist, and church musician for more than fifteen years. Dr. Mitak enjoys working with students of all ages, and her research on older adult music learning has been featured in the Florida Music Director.
