The University of Rhode Island has inducted one of its largest classes ever into the national freshman honor society, Phi Eta Sigma.
A total of 480 freshmen out of 826 invitees, averaging a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75, chose to become official members of the oldest and largest freshman honor society in the United States.
To be eligible to join, students must have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 at the end of their first semester.

[Alumni Association]
Students brave cold to run “Nearly Naked Mile” around campus: Fierce winds did not stop University of Rhode Island students from running nearly bare around the quadrangle – all for a good cause, of course.
[Diversity Summit]
Diversity Summit attracts students from far and wide to hear renowned speaker: If the 500 students jammed into Edwards Hall Auditorium for a recent program on diversity had planned on low-key, lecture-type experience, speaker Maura Cullen quickly dispelled those notions.
[Volunteers]
Volunteers give middle school students a taste of college during ‘Shadow Day’: Dozens of University of Rhode Island students volunteered a few weeks ago to have a shadow follow them around all day. You just might have been sitting next to one in class.
