The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security (NSA/DHS) have selected the University of Rhode Island as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education.
This designation is the nation’s premier academic certification for cybersecurity education, demonstrating that URI’s coursework and degrees meet the most important industry certification standards and NSA/DHS requirements.

Standout student-athletes honored at Rhode Island State House: Ten University of Rhode Island student-athletes, and a distinguished alum, were honored at the State House's House of Representatives Chamber. The annual event was hosted by the Speaker of the House, the honorable Gordon D. Fox.

Zombie outbreak is target of mock URI pharmacy clinic: On April 26th, 25 pharmacy students ran a mock dispensing clinic, during which anti-viral medications mockingly named Zombivir and Gummivir (really just Sour Patch and Gummy Bears candies) will be given to individuals to prevent the disease’s spread.

Mary McGunigal selected to give student commencement speech: Mary McGunigal will receive her degree in Classical Studies during undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies on May 20 and she will also deliver the student commencement speech.
