The University of Rhode Island will celebrate the achievements of its students, and salute the accomplishments of four distinguished citizens at its 126th commencement exercises on Sunday, May 20, 2012.
In recognition of their unique contributions to the University, the people of the State of Rhode Island, and the nation, the University will confer honorary degrees upon Marlen Suyapa Bodden, award-winning author and human rights attorney; Amy DeVaudreuil, a noted attorney working in areas related to affordable housing in California; Colonel Philip J. National experts to gather for Cybersecurity Symposium: Leading authorities on computer network security will join with digital forensics experts and U.S. Congressman James L. Langevin at the University of Rhode Island's Cybersecurity Symposium this week. Free and open to the public, the event will be Wednesday, May 2nd, at URI’s Kingston Campus.

URI named National Center of Excellence by NSA, Homeland Security: The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security (NSA/DHS) have selected the University of Rhode Island as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education.

Standout student-athletes honored at Rhode Island State House: Ten University of Rhode Island student-athletes, and a distinguished alum, were honored at the State House's House of Representatives Chamber. The annual event was hosted by the Speaker of the House, the honorable Gordon D. Fox.
