Vocal duets' scheduled at URI
KINGSTON, R.I. -- February 1, 2000--The sounds of music will be held
at URI's Kingston Campus on Saturday, February 19. That's when Margaret
Frazier of Richmond, soprano and Barbara Youmans of North Attleboro,
Mass, mezzo-soprano, will present "An Evening of Vocal Duets"
as part of the Music Department's UNIVERSITY ARTIST SERIES. The singing
begins at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.
Frazier is currently a guest artist and instructor of voice in URI's
Music Department. She and Youmans are alumnae of URI's Music Department.
Stephen Martorella of Warwick, who is a member of the music faculty
at Rhode Island College and the conductor of the South County Chamber Singers,
will accompany the singers on harpsichord and piano. Daniel Harp will assist
on cello.
Duets composed by Purcell, Handel, Schütz, Rossini, Brahms, and
Boston composer, Edith Hemenway, will be performed.
General admission is $6; seniors pay $5, students are admitted free with
