Guitar virtuoso and Dave Matthews Band
collaborator to perform at URI
KINGSTON, R.I. -- September 20, 2000 -- A renowned guitar virtuoso and
frequent collaborator with the Dave Matthews Band will soon be filling
the University of Rhode Island's Edwards Auditorium with his unique sound.
As part of his first-ever national solo acoustic tour, Tim Reynolds will
perform on September 26 at 7 p.m. in Edwards Auditorium on URI's Kingston
Campus. General admission is $8 and student admission is $5.
Reynolds became acquainted with Dave Matthews when the two musicians
were beginning their careers. In fact, Reynolds turned down an opportunity
to join the popular Dave Matthews Band, instead opting for a solo
career. Although he does often record and perform with the band, he has
established his own identity, with such works as his recent CD, See Into
Your Soul.
Reynolds has been lauded as a master of every conceivable guitar technique,
including the expressiveness of the acoustic guitar. He uses the guitar
to create a unique harmonic, melodic, and percussive sound. His talents
include combining the simplicity of an acoustic guitar with the use of electronic
devices to create a hypnotizing effect and his trademark ability of improvising,
often alternating between intimacy and hard play.
He has also mastered the sitar, the 12-string guitar, bass, and electric
guitar.
Reynolds has appeared on VH1's "Storytellers" with Dave Matthews,
and has traveled with and recorded the band's multiplatinum CD, "Live
at Luther College."
Reynolds is brought to the University by the Student Entertainment Committee.
