URI's College of Business Administration
seeks nominees for Hall of Fame
KINGSTON, R.I., -- October 4, 2000 The University of Rhode Island's
College of Business Administration is seeking nominations and applications
for its third annual Hall of Fame ceremony in the spring.
On April 21, 2001, the College will induct a number of prominent alumni/business
people during a ceremony and formal dinner in the Hyatt Regency Newport
Hotel. Currently, there are 15 men and women in the Hall of Fame. Among
them are: Alfred J. Verrecchia, president and chief operating officer, Hasbro,
Inc.; Vincent Sarni, retired chairman and chief executive officer, PPG Industries;
Robert L. Crandall, retired chairman and chief executive officer, AMR Corporation/American
Airlines; the Honorable Alton W. Wiley, retired associate justice of the
Rhode Island Superior Court and the late Peg Ackroyd, chief of the Rhode
Island Division of Women and Children.
Priority will be given to induction of individuals who are alumni of
the College of Business Administration. However, non-alumni may be considered
for induction. The primary consideration is the distinction the nominee
has brought to the College, the University and/or the state of Rhode Island
through their careers or though their contributions in advancing the mission
and reputation of the College.
Nominations and applications should be forwarded by Nov. 10 to
