Latin American Student Association to host culture show

KINGSTON, R.I. -- November 10, 2000 -- The University of Rhode Island's Latin American Student Association will present a free dancing and drumming show on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Edwards Auditorium. The program is open to the public

Making her first appearance at URI, artist Lydia Pérez will perform the Bomba, a new African style of drumming and dancing. Practiced by the African descendants in Puerto Rico, Bomba includes an extended improvisational dialogue between the lead drummer and the solo dancer.
