Annual Rhode Island labor-management
relations conference to be held Dec. 8
KINGSTON, R.I. November 15, 2000 The 15th annual Rhode Island
Conference on Labor-Management Relations will present "Labor and Management
in the New Millennium" on Friday, Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m in
the Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence.
The conference provides a unique forum for those involved in workplace
change to gather and discuss issues of common concern. This year's conference
offers 10 innovative workshops and keynote addresses by leaders in the field.
Keynote speaker Mark J. Formica, vice-chairman of the Citizens Financial
Group Inc., will discuss the "Changing Nature of Our Work" at
8:45 a.m. U.S. Sen. James M. Jeffords, chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee
on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, will discuss "What's in
Store for the 107th Congress?" from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The first morning workshops will take place from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.
and will cover such topics as: Collective Bargaining on Health Care Insurance,
Top 10 Mistakes That Parties Make in Arbitration and How to Fix Them, OSHA's
Consultation and Compliance Assistance Program, and others.
From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. workshops will cover topics such as Health
Care Policy Issues, Domestic Partner Coverage, and Training to Retain a
Skilled Workforce.
Major sponsors of the conference are the University of Rhode Island's
Schmidt Labor Research Center, its Department of Management, at the College
of Business Administration, and the Rhode Island Department of Labor and
Training.
There is a registration fee of $95 for the conference, which includes
