KINGSTON, R.I. -- Feb. 19, 2001 -- The next meeting of the University of Rhode Island/Narragansett Coalition will be Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Narragansett Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
Among the items on the agenda for discussion is a proposed keg registration law. Filed in the General Assembly on Feb. 3, the legislation requires that anyone purchasing a keg of beer register their name and address with the retailer that sold the keg so a record is kept identifying the individual responsible for the keg.
Also to be discussed is an informational campaign to be launched in March aimed at communicating to area residents that URI has established a hotline that residents can use to inform URI officials about issues of noise, parties or other concerns regarding students living off-campus. The hotline number is 874-5393. The campaign will also reach students in an effort to remind them to be respectful of their neighbors as the semester comes to an end.
For additional information about the meeting, call Thomas Dougan, interim vice president of student affairs, at 874-2427.
