R. I. congressional delegation to speak to community
about state of the nation
URI to host town meeting to help answer questions, concerns

KINGSTON, R.I. -- October 15, 2001 -- What’s the state of the nation since the terrorist attacks on September 11? What ‘s happening domestically and internationally?

The Rhode Island congressional delegation will help answer those questions and others during a town meeting to be held at the University of Rhode Island on Friday, October 19.
Senators Jack Reed and Lincoln Chafee will join Congressmen Patrick Kennedy and James Langevin in Edwards Auditorium, located on Upper College Road, on URI’s Kingstown Campus at 8 p.m. The meeting, a cooperative venture between URI and Cox Communications, is designed to address community concerns. Students, alumni, and members of the community are invited.

The meeting will be televised live statewide over Cox 3 from 8 to 9 p.m. However, the Rhode Island delegation has agreed to remain longer to respond to any unanswered questions, according to Maureen Moakley, URI professor of political science, who will serve as moderator.

The meeting kicks off a myriad of activities planned for URI’s Homecoming on Saturday, October 20.
