PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- February 27, 2003 -- Want to return to college but short on cash? Don’t let money hold you back from working toward your goals. Applications for summer scholarships are currently available at the University of Rhode Island’s Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education, located at the URI Feinstein Providence Campus, 80 Washington St.

The scholarships, funded by a generous gift to the college by the Feinstein Foundation, will cover the tuition for one or more courses taken at the College during the summer 2003 sessions. Any adult enrolled student, whether new or returning, is eligible to apply. The application deadline is April 20.

A stipulation of the scholarship requires the student-recipient to perform 30 hours of community service. The College can provide assistance in locating community service opportunities for students who do not have specific organizations in mind.

Last summer, the College awarded Feinstein scholarships totaling nearly $72,000, helping about 110 Rhode Island men and women to further their education.
