URI Feinstein Providence Campus exhibit
to celebrate work of older Rhode Islanders
PROVIDENCE, R.I -- April 28, 2003 -- The University of Rhode Island Feinstein Providence Campus Gallery will present a mixed media group exhibit during May in celebration of Older Americans Month.
Entitled MASTERS: Growing with the Years, the exhibit runs May 530 and features the work of 30 local artists. A Gallery Night reception will be held Thursday, May 15 from 59 p.m. The exhibit is located on the first and second floor lobbies of the campus, located at 80 Washington St., Providence.
Many of the artists are professionals who worked either in the education or the graphic arts fields. In recent years, they have had the opportunity to focus more time on their own work, exploring different media and subjects. They have had a chance to grow as artists, refining their craft with years of life experience to guide their hands and inspire their vision. Most of the artists are busier in retirement years than they were during their careers.
The exhibit illustrates the dynamic and exciting contributions being made by older Americans to our community and our culture.
Among the artists featured in this months exhibit are: Sam Ames, Norma Anderson, Harriet Brisson, Kathleen R. Byrnes, Rose Califano, Rose Coppa DAmore, Marge Dalenius, John deMelim, Veronica Farrell, Winifred Jolicoeur, Riva Leviten, Rachael Modliszewski, Don Smith, Lane P. Stanley, Henry Budlong, Gayle Cerrito, Lynn Zienowicz, Joan Hoyle, Ruth Krecioch, Gwen Mahan, Inez Mello, Lou Notoriani, Teresa Roberti, Sameul Rouslin, Ruth Snyder, Esther Sears, William Strand, Marie Swenson, Richard "Dick" Vincent.
