URI Alumni Association announces new
president, Executive Board members
KINGSTON, R.I. -- June 27, 2003 -- The University of Rhode Island Alumni Association has named Kathleen Goulding of North Kingstown its new president.

Goulding, a 1977 graduate of URI, joined other Executive Board members at the associations annual meeting at URIs W. Alton Jones Campus in June. She succeeds Lincoln D. Almond, a 1985 URI graduate, of Kingston in the presidents post.
Goulding is a seasoned business professional with more than 20 years of credit and lending experience in the banking industry. She has held leadership positions in the small business, middle market and private banking areas of a major regional bank.
She switched directions in February 2001 when she joined the staff of the Center for Women & Enterprise as the organizations financial services manager. In that role, she is responsible for assisting women entrepreneurs who are seeking access to capital to either start or build their businesses. Goulding works closely with the local financial community to find partners for these women-owned businesses. While similar in many respects to her prior positions, this one allows her to use her financial skills while at the same time providing a benefit to the community. Since starting at the center, Goulding has assisted women entrepreneurs obtain 75 loans totaling more than $6 million.
Goulding has a long-standing and proven commitment to strengthening her community. She has been active in many local organizations including Junior Achievement, United Way, and LINKS. She is the immediate past president of the Providence Childrens Museum, and is an alumna of Leadership Rhode Islands Tau class, which graduated in October 1999. She earned a bachelors degree in political science at URI in 1977. Goulding is married to Dwayne Goulding, who is a business manager with Allied Domecq/Dunkin Donuts. They have a 14-year-old son Matthew.
