Providence Black Rep. to hold auditions for
youth interested in writing and performing
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- August 4, 2003 -- If you are between 11 and 14 years-old and enjoy writing and performing, the University of Rhode Islands Feinstein Providence Campus and the Providence Black Repertory Company invite you to audition to become a member of the fifth group of SEEDS of Hope: Youth Writing and Performance Workshop.
SEEDS is a group of creative and dedicated young people interested in learning acting and writing skills and techniques who have the opportunity to work with professional performers and writers. Auditions will be held on Aug. 29 from noon to 4 p.m. at Providence Black Rep., 276 Westminster St., Providence.
Anyone interested should come prepared to move and do improvisation exercises and have a one-minute poem, monologue or song prepared to share. Participants may bring some of their writing.
The SEEDS program, which runs Saturday mornings from September to December, includes 14 sessions writing original work and learning classic poetry.
The group will create and perform a play that will tour in the community including a presentation at the National Black Storytelling Conference and Festival.
