URI,s televised Rhode Island at the Millennium,
seriesto focus on economic development, May 24
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- May 12, 1999 -- The next televised Town Meeting offered
by the URI Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education,s "Rhode
Island at the Millennium series will focus on economic development. How
does the state grow smart in the face of global challenges and regional
opportunities?
The meeting, "Defining Rhode Island,s Role in the Metro and World
Economies: How Do We Win Economically Without Losing Our Soul? is scheduled
for Monday, May 24 from 7 to 8 p.m.
The live telecast from 7 to 8 p.m., is the third of a series focusing
on the major issues Rhode Islanders face as we move into the 21st
century. It can be seen on Cox Communications Channel 3.
Interested community members are invited to be a part of the live studio
audience at the URI Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education,
Paff Auditorium, 80 Washington St., Providence. Please plan to be seated
by 6:30 p.m.
The millennium series is produced by URI in partnership with the Rhode
Island Foundation, The United Way, Cox Communications, NBC-10, and WRNI.
Monthly shows will cover topics as diverse as volunteerism, education,
land use and health.
