R.I. Geriatric Education Center to host
seminarat URI's W. Alton Jones Campus
KINGSTON, R.I. -- October 14, 1999 -- The Rhode Island Geriatric Education
Center will present a seminar at the University of Rhode Island's W. Alton
Jones Campus on Monday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Entitled, "Advanced Practice Seminar I," the seminar will feature
presentations on "Family Caregiver Issues," "The Confused
Medically Ill Patient," and "Elder Abuse and Competency."
Small group case discussions will be facilitated by faculty members.

The Rhode Island Geriatric Education Center, which is based at the University
of Rhode Island, offers a professional certificate for currently practicing
health care professionals. This credential is offered in conjunction with
continuing education credits for physicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacists,
nursing home administrators, and other health care and human service professionals.
The Center is a consortium of URI's colleges of nursing and pharmacy,
Rhode Island College School of Social Work, Brown University School of Medicine,
and Aging 2000. The purpose of the center is to improve knowledge and skills
in geriatrics and gerontology among health professionals. A Certificate
in Interdisciplinary Practice in Geriatrics may be earned by attending five
workshops and two seminars.
