PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- March 24 2004 -- The University of Rhode Island's Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education announces that scholarships are now available for summertime studies.

The scholarships, funded by a generous gift to the college by The Feinstein Foundation, will cover the tuition for one to three courses taken at the College during the summer sessions. Any adult student, whether new or returning, is eligible to apply. The application deadline is April 20. Summer classes will be held May 24-June 25; and June 28 to July 30.

A stipulation of the scholarship is that the student(s) selected are required to perform 30 hours of community service. The college can provide assistance in locating community service opportunities for students who do not have specific organizations in mind.

Scholarship applications are available by calling 277-5000, by clicking on www.uri.edu/prov/scholarships, or by visiting the College's Student Services Office in Room 125 of the URI Providence Campus at 80 Washington St. Information about summer sessions can be found at www.uri.edu/summer.
