URI Theatre to host panel discussion on morality following 4/28 performance of 'An Ideal Husband'
KINGSTON, R.I. -- April 13, 2004 -- Following the Wednesday, April 28 performance of Oscar Wilde's witty, romantic and probing play, An Ideal Husband, the University of Rhode Islandís Theatre Department will host a special post-performance panel discussion called "The Modern Mania for Morality, 1895/2004." Within the play are human dilemmas emerging from an act of insider trading that resonates with today's headlines.
Panelists for this discussion include URI College of Arts & Sciences faculty members Stephen M. Barber and Valerie A. Karno, both of the English Department and William J. Bartels of the Philosophy Department.
Bryna Wortman, URI Theatre Department and director of An Ideal Husband, will moderate. A question and answer session with the audience regarding ethics and morals among other matters will be encouraged.
The play will be performed at URI's Robert E. Will Theatre on April 22 through 24 and April 28 through May 1 at 8 p.m. and April 25 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $12 for general and $10 for students, senior citizens and children.
