KINGSTON, R.I. -- September 10, 2004 -- The University of Rhode Island Preparatory Music Program will start off on the right note this fall -- with a recital featuring some of the very musicians who will be teaching area adults and children for the upcoming 13-week session.
Free and open to the public, the "Faculty Recital" will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the URI Fine Arts Center Concert Hall on the Kingston Campus.
The 13-week session will run from Sept. 13 through Dec. 10, 2004 and will provide instruction for children and adults in orchestral and band instruments, voice, piano and guitar. Other instruments may be available if requested. The students' work will culminate in a performance for family and friends at the end.
The program will include performances by musicians Faith Kaplan, flute; Daniel Healey, trumpet; Kathryn Chester and Raymond Buttero on piano; Cindy Galvin, flute; Justin LeClerc, trombone; and David Drapeau, saxophone.
In addition, the Music Prep Program Director Jane Murray, oboe, will perform the Trio by Poulenc with Christine Przybycien, bassoon, and special guest artist Manabu Takasawa.
Through its Preparatory Program, the URI Music Department provides high-quality, reasonably priced music programs to adults and children from the surrounding communities.
