"We believe that our annual symposium, plus new course offerings at URI's Providence campus, will provide a much needed 'watering hole' to nurture those who now work in or want to learn about or join the newly developing biotechnology/biomanufacturing industry in the New England region," said Arthur Blume, coordinator of URIís Biotechnology Industry Training Initiative on the Feinstein Providence Campus.

The Northeast Regional Biotechnology Symposium is the first event of the new Biotechnology Industry Training Initiative, which is designed to offer the biotech companies in the region with education, networking and training programs for their employees.

The symposium is open to anyone interested in learning more about the biotechnology industry in Rhode Island. The registration fee is $25, and advance registration is required. For more information or to register for the event, call the URI Special Programs Office at 401-277-5050.
