MadCat Film Festival to return to URI April 20
KINGSTON, R.I -- April, 4, 2005 -- Film lovers will be excited to hear that the MadCat Women's International Film Festival will return to the University of Rhode Island again this April. Titled "The Truth of the Matter," the program features artists from Germany, Japan, and the U.S. who challenge their governments' actions and policies.
The program will be screened on Wednesday, April 20 at 4 p.m. in Chafee 271, URI Kingston Campus. It is free and open to the public.
Curated by Ariella Ben-Dov, MadCat is a highly acclaimed San Francisco-based festival that exhibits independent and experimental films and videos directed by women from around the globe. Each winter and spring, MadCat goes on tour, bringing a program of experimental, documentary and animated short films to the Rhode Island area.
Ben-Dov will be at the screening to answer questions about what it means to curate a women's film festival in the 21st century.
The program is sponsored by URIís Film Studies Program, English and Art Departments, the Honor's Program and Visiting Scholars Committee, and Women's Studies Program. A reception will follow the presentation. For more information, contact Jean Walton at email@example.com. General information about the MadCat Festival is available at http://madcatfilmfestival.org/
