URI Pharmacy’s Seminar-on-the-Links to feature presentation on cardiovascular health

KINGSTON, R.I. -- August 26, 2005 -- If you are a health care professional and are interested in some great golf and a seminar about cardiovascular health, then grab your clubs for the URI College of Pharmacy Louis A. Luzzi Seminar-on-the Links.
To be held at the Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown on Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the program includes a continuing education seminar, lunch, 18 holes of golf and a cocktail reception and dinner following golf. The fee is $175.
The seminar, which runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., is titled “Dyslipidemia, Inflammation, and Cardiovascular Health,” and will be presented by Lisa Cohen, clinical assistant professor at the URI College of Pharmacy.
Among the topics to be covered are:
• The role of inflammatory markers and lipids on cardiovascular health;
• Appropriate treatments for prevention of coronary events; and
• New lipid lowering techniques and combination therapies.
The program will be of interest to pharmacists in community, hospital and managed care settings, as well as those interested in changing the health care environment.
The program is approved for one hour of continuing education credit.
