URI Feinstein College of Continuing Education awards scholarships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- September 28, 2005 -- The University of Rhode Island's Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education in Providence has announced that more than 150 scholarships have been awarded to part-time adult students who are admitted and enrolled at the Feinstein Providence Campus. The scholarships funded by generous donations to the college provide assistance for course tuition and textbooks.

Megan Petullo of Barrington; Steven Durcharme and Susan Meyer of Bristol; Rita Berges, Francia Fung, Siogouni Gboho, and Youn Kpleoh of Central Falls; Toni Garceau of Chepachet; Carol Mahoney and Diane Gaul of Coventry;
Lindsey Allen, Beverly Columbo, Grace Cook, Kathleen Eacuello, Kate Ferns, Tish Graham, Paula Kraus, Brenda Moscarelli, Libana O'Connor, Brenda Osibin, Kathleen Schleimer, and Carol Ann Silvestri of Cranston;

Sara St Laurent of Riverside; Jeanette Bradley, and Angie Lovegrove of Rumford; Marylou Upham of Saunderstown; Cythia Raso of Wakefield; Scott Coriander of Warren; Heather Clark, Kenneth Hall, Scott Horton, Aubrey Johnson, Paula Kairnes, Ellen Mahony , Lorraine Oni, Christian Riley , and Brian Webb of Warwick; Dawn Chabot of West Warwick; Elizabeth DiBiasio of West Kingston; and Sandra Tancrede, Woonsocket.

Other scholarships awarded include:

Charles Allen of Johnston received the Walter A. Crocker scholarship.

James Allen of Wyoming, received the Howard Stanzler scholarship.

Beverly Columbo of Cranston received the Verrecchia scholarship.

Allison Cone of Providence received the Jill Smith Ellsworth scholarship.

Siogouni Gboho of Central Falls, Gary Jenkins of Riverside, and Kathleen Szpila of Providence were awarded Anna and Gregory Demetrakas scholarships for their pursuit of a degree in mathematics, science, or related fields.

Patricia Jaspers of East Greenwich was awarded the Suzanna Anstine Norbeck scholarship.

Donna McGowan of Providence received the Janice Paff Memorial Scholarship.

Joanna Senay of Cranston received the Dr. Richard M. Bianco Scholarship for women in Bachelor of General Studies program, the Carol A. Corwin book scholarship, the Janice Paff, and the Demetrakas scholarships.

Lorraine Oni of Warwick, Robin Mello of Tiverton, Hannah Tarawali of Riverside, Sandra Ducharme of Charlestown, and Ashly Monteiro of Providence received the John R. Hackett scholarship.

Kenneth Hall of East Greenwich, James Goulet of Kingston, Heather Clark of Warwick, Titilola Oyegunle-Martin of Providence, Fatima DoVale of East Providence, Jeanette Bradley of Rumford and Christian Riley of Warwick received John Shepard II Scholarships.

Suelem Rosalino of North Providence, Beverly Colombo of Cranston, and Gwee Freeman, Octavia Clements, and Nicole Bush of Providence received Mackin scholarships.

Celestina Okai, Lisa McLeod, and Caroline Hutchinson of Providence received the Rae scholarships.
