Great Performances - The Western Wind

Media Contact:

Like a breath of fresh air, the versatile six person a cappella ensemble known as The Western Wind, runs a musical gamut that encompasses everything from the religious to the ridiculous. See them in person on Saturday, October 22 at 8 pm when URI’s Great Performances will bring them to the URI Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, Kingston where they will perform “Mir Zaynen Do; We Are Still Here!”, an emotional musical journey by composers who suffered through the agony of the Holocaust and who celebrate the human resilience of survival.

Observe the effects of world altering events presented in this stirring performance climaxed by the anthems of hope; “Hatikvah” and “Somewhere”. This concert is presented in part by grants from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

Tickets ($15 General, $12 URI Faculty/Staff/Senior and $5 Students) may be purchased in advance or at the door. For information please call 401-874-ARTS or 401-874-2627. A compelling part of the world visits Rhode Island with this must see performance.
