KINGSTON, R.I. – March 23, 2006 – More than 85 companies and organizations will be at the Career and Job Fair 2006 at the University of Rhode Island’s Ryan Center April 5.

Free and open to the public, the event offered by URI Career Services, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Employers representing Rhode Island, as well as out-of-state organizations, will be recruiting.

A highlight of the fair will be a career seminar from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. run by Phil Tracy, principal of Tracy Executive Human Resource Development. His topic, “Being the Best You Can Be,” will focus on preparing for and participating in successful job interviews and assessing offers and negotiating the best deal. He’ll discuss the importance of resumes, the 50 most common questions in an interview and the power of thank-you notes.

A former senior executive in banking and health care administration, Tracy’s firm provides executive coaching and outplacement counseling.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., members of the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training will provide free resume reviews.

Bobbi Koppel, Career Services director, said employers will be offering full- and part-time opportunities, as well as internships.

Business, financial services, non-profit, human services, government, retail, insurance, health, engineering and technology will be among the fields represented.

This is Career Services fourth major job fair at the Ryan Center. Attendance has ranged from 500 to 1,000 job seekers.
