URIís READ/WRITE Series receives a donorís challenge
KINGSTON, R.I. -- December 15, 2006 -- ĎTis the season to think of tax deductions. One anonymous donor to the University of Rhode Islandís READ/WRITE series, which relies exclusively on contributions for funding, has made a challenge. The donor will match any gift up to $2,500. That means a $50 gift would become a $100 gift.
The money will be used to help bring nationally known, as well as emerging poets, novelists, and creative non-fiction writers to URIís Kingston campus.
The series runs during the fall and spring semesters and hosts a poet or prose writer once a month. Audience members consist of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and community members interested in creative writing.
Guest author readings are always followed by a question and answer session. All events are free, open to the public, and followed by a reception.
Anyone who would like to take advantage of this generous offer is invited to send a tax deductible contributions to: The URI writer's collective, Fund #5568, URI Foundation, 79 Upper College Road, Kingston, R.I. 02881
