URI Ram Band to perform, Nov. 9
KINGSTON, R.I.—October 30, 2007--You’ve seen and heard them on the field if you’ve attended any football games at the University of Rhode Island. You may have wished for more, or for a chance to see the color guard routines up close. On Friday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m., you have your chance –the URI Ram Marching Band will offer its annual pass-in-review concert at the URI Fine Arts Center in Kingston.
The concert will be a performance of the marching band's entire repertoire for the season. This year that has included: West Side Story (Maria, America, Gee Officer Krupke, and Tonight), Latin/Swing (Malaguena, Bellavia, Cantina Band) Classical (Holst's The Planets, Barber's Adagio, and Stravinsky's Rite Of Spring). The drum line and color guard will be featured.
This show was arranged by Timothy Girard, a URI Music Department graduate who is currently a percussion instructor at the University. The band is directed by Brian Cardany, assistant director of bands, and director and coach of athletic bands at URI.
The concert will be held in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, 105 Upper College Road on URI's Kingston campus. Admission is $8 for the general public, $2 for students, with seating on a first-come basis. The box office opens 45 minutes before the concert.
