KINGSTON, R.I. -- July 15, 2008 -- The University of Rhode Island has announced the appointment of Dean Libutti of North Kingstown, as interim vice provost for enrollment management. URI Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Donald H. DeHayes made the announcement.
"Given the importance of enrollment to our competitive position and the declining student demographic in our region, this position is critical to URI’s health and future," said DeHayes. "Dean Libutti will be an integral part of a team that will bring new, needed, and valued perspectives to URI and to working with the campus community to advance the position of our university."
In his new position, Libutti will provide leadership in enrollment planning, recruitment, admission, and retention for the University’s undergraduate programs. He will also develop comprehensive plans for enrollment management and student retention, and collaborate with the University community to implement those plans. This position will also oversee URI's summer programs.
Currently a special assistant to the provost, Libutti joined the University in 1999 as assistant director of new student programs. He later was named associate dean of University College and Special Academic Programs. Libutti has experience in all areas of admission, financial aid, curriculum management, and retention research and has integrated a data-oriented perspective to these areas. Prior to joining the University, he served as director of orientation/assistant to the vice president at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and worked in admissions at Villanova University in Villanova, Penn.
Libutti received his bachelors degree in business administration from Villanova University, MBA from the University of Rhode Island and doctoral degree in education from Johnson & Wales University.
