URI, South Korean University to sign agreement to create academic opportunities in Korea, R.I.

WHO: University of Rhode Island President David M. Dooley and Far East University President Keel ll Lyu, Eumsung, Chungbrook, Republic of Korea and representatives from both institutions.

WHAT: The two presidents will sign a formal memorandum of understanding that encourages and supports visits from one university to another and explore learning, research, and teaching opportunities for their students and faculty members.

WHEN: Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at 4 p.m.

WHERE: Green Hall, Room 201, 35 Campus Ave, URI Kingston campus.

WHY: The agreement is aligned with URI’s academic plan, Charting Our Path to the Future, to create global citizens. Far East University and URI have discovered common interests. Both institutions are exploring opportunities related to renewable energy. Far East University offers an expanding number of courses taught in English. Its students have an interest in journalism, film, communications, nursing, theater, and business—all programs of study offered at URI.
