PROVIDENCE, R.I. – February 4, 2011 – Looking for some fun and educational programs to engage your children during the February school vacation week? Then sign up for programs at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center sponsored by the University of Rhode Island.
URI’s Eco-Exploration Program takes children on a trip to the tropics, the desert and the rainforest -- all within the confines of the Botanical Center -- to learn about environmental science. They will have the chance to feel a coyote’s fur, learn to compost with red wiggler worms, feed a venus flytrap, and plant seeds in their own greenhouse that they can take home.
The two-hour program is offered on Feb. 22 and 24 at 10 a.m. and costs $8 per child and $5 per adult.
Yoga Dance Story Time is a program for parents and their children on Friday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. that uses yoga postures, hand gestures, facial expressions and dance movements to tell a story. Trees, rocks, lions and butterflies will be depicted through yoga postures, roaring sounds, and songs.
Taught by certified yoga instructor Shanthi Muthu, the program costs $15 for one parent and child.
Space is limited. For more information or to register for the programs, email email@example.com or call 401-874-2900.
