Author forsakes cars, electricity, disposable diapers for baby

WHO: Colin Beavan wanted to make a change by causing no change. The author convinced his Manhattan-based family to abandon its high consumption Fifth Avenue lifestyle and try to live a year while making no net environmental impact. The result was his book - No Impact Man - which is the University of Rhode Islandís Common Reading book for freshmen this year.
