SUBJECT: Flexibility following Hurricane Sandy

I hope you are all safe and survived Hurricane Sandy with minimum damage and personal disruption. As you know, some in our community (including students) were forced to evacuate their homes and many others are left without power. The campus is in very good condition and we will resume classes tomorrow - October 31, 2012. However, personal safety should be everyone's first consideration. Students should return to campus when it is safe for them to do so.

I ask that faculty be flexible with regard to student attendance and participation over the next several days as some students may be unable to get to campus today or tomorrow.

Please do your best to accommodate students who have restricted access to campus and, to the extent possible, provide assistance to students who have to make up missed material. I appreciate everyone's flexibility and cooperation as we all grapple with the aftermath of this difficult and damaging storm.

Thank you very much.
