Dr. Clarisa Carubin wins the 2024 Human Rights Award from URI Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies!

Congratulations, Dr. Clarisa Carubin, for winning the 2024 Human Rights Award from URI Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies! Professor Carubin was recognized for her significant contribution toward educating and promoting human rights to her students and the larger community through creative art and design.

Dr. Clarisa Carubin is an Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Rhode Island, specializing in studio courses in Graphic Design, Motion Graphic Design, and Data Visualization Design. With a passion in teaching and the graphic design profession, she is committed to bringing her industry experience and academic expertise into the classroom.

Dr. Carubin is originally from Argentina, did her doctoral studies at the University of Barcelona, Spain, and, prior to coming to URI, she taught for many years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She said, “this exposure to multiple cultures has played a fundamental role in her commitment to helping students cultivate a broader perspective, and foster empathy with an appreciation of social responsibility. In today’s diverse world, these are essential skills required to create designs that are not only visually appealing but also ethical, inclusive, and impactful.
