Diane Thulier received her diploma in nursing from Newport Hospital School of Nursing. Her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees were both earned at the University of Rhode Island. In 1999 Ms. Thulier completed her certificate as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is currently enrolled in the PhD program at the College of Nursing.

Ms. Thulier's background is in maternal-child health nursing. She has worked in labor and delivery, ante-partum, post-partum, the newborn nursery and women's medical-surgical settings. She has worked as a lactation consultant at South County Hospital in Wakefield, RI. While there she helped to establish one of Rhode Island's first, hospital based out-patient lactation offices.

Ms. Thulier began teaching at the College of Nursing in 2006. She is a clinical nurse instructor for Childbearing and Reproductive Health and also Foundations of Nursing. She continues to work on the Women's Wing at South County Hospital.

Her areas of interest include the exploration of effective teaching methods for lactation consultants. Also, the development of innovative clinical programs for undergraduate and new graduate nurses.
