Graduate Nursing Program
How to Apply
The completed online application and all supporting documents must be received by April 15th for Fall admission and November 15th for Spring admission. Applications must be received by January 30th for consideration for departmental financial aid for the following year. There is no assurance that applications completed after specified deadlines will be processed in time for enrollment in the desired semester. Admission is valid only for the term offered and must be reconsidered if a postponement is subsequently requested.
Applications are not reviewed until all materials are received by the Department for which you are applying. Please have all your materials sent directly to the Graduate Admission Committee, White Hall, URI College of Nursing, 2 Heathman Rd, Kingston, RI 02881-2021, Ph: (401)874-5334, web: http://www.uri.edu/nursing/
Application materials include:
- A completed online application for Admission
- Application fee of $65 - online payment preferred.
- Personal Statement - 1-2 pages (included in the online application).
- 2 Official copies of all College Transcript(s) (sent by the institution)
- 2-3 Letters of Recommendation (3 letters required for NP programs) (referees email addresses are entered in the online application. They will electronically submit their recommendation).
- Certificate of Residency (if applying for in-state, or regional tuition)
- Resume (2 copies)
International Students only must also produce:
- Official TOEFL Scores (these MUST be sent electronically by the testing service)
- Official English translation of College Transcript(s)
- Certificate of Financial Responsibility
Please Note: DO NOT submit more than one application for the same degree program.
Masters Admission Requirements
- MAT (no older than 5 years). Go to http://pearsonassess.com/haiweb/Cultures/en-US/site/Community/PostSecondary/Products/MAT/mathome.htm or call (in RI) MAT testing centers: Salve Regina College (401)341-2913, Providence College (401)865-2247, or Rhode Island College (401)456-8003. or GRE (no older than 5 years) Go to http://www.gre.org for information on GRE testing and preparation.
- Bachelors degree from an AACN or NLN or-accredited program with an upper-division major in nursing
- Undergraduate course in statistics (PSY 300 preferred, or STA 220 - course content to include probability to help interpret nursing research)
