Student Nurses Association - URI

The Student Nurses Association (SNA) of URI was founded in 1980 as Rhode Island Student Nurses Association

Students from all nursing schools in RI are eligible to join the RI Student Nurses Association. The State SNA allows students to network with students from around the state; holds a yearly state convention; and offers opportunities for leadership and service.


National Student Nurses Association (NSNA)

The National Student Nurse Association (NSNA) is a pre-professional organization for nursing students. NSNA offers many programs, leadership opportunities and benefits such as discounts on products, books and services. A national convention is held yearly with nationally known speakers, workshops, exhibits and social events. Imprint, NSNA's official magazine, published by and for nursing students is included in the yearly dues.

 

Sigma Theta Tau International

Delta Upsilon Chapter Nursing Honor Society

In 1980, the College of Nursing received a charter as Delta Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). The purposes of STTI are:

To recognize the achievement of scholarship of
  superior quality.

  • To recognize the development of leadership qualities.
  • To foster high professional standards.
  • To encourage creative work.
  • To strengthen commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession

To be eligible for membership, students must have completed one-half of their nursing credits, have a GPA of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 35% of the class. For further information regarding the application procedure and membership contact the faculty advisor, Tracy MacSwain.

Nurses Christian Fellowship

The Nurses Christian Fellowship (NCF) is an organization of nurses and nursing students with a focus of integrating Christian faith and nursing. Meetings are held at the College of Nursing to better prepare nurses to assist persons spiritually, psycho-socially and physically as they face crises. NCF helps the student or nurse to be a whole person who relates to God, self and others in a healthy way.  For more information, please contact Marylee Evans at  mle@uri.edu.

 

URI Student Senate

The Student Senate is the legislative arm of the student body at URI. Its primary goal is to represent the student body in its relationship with administration and faculty. The College of Nursing has one elected Senate seat amont the 20 representative seats from the University's Academic Colleges. A student interested in becoming a student senator representing the CON should contact the Student Senate Office in the Memorial Union.
