At the college, Dr. Curtin teaches undergraduate clinical in community nursing and graduate courses in concept development and nursing knowledge development in the client-nurse domain. She is also a faculty member at the Rhode Island Geriatric Education Center where she leads interdisciplinary student teams in geriatric assessment. She has received several awards from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University for her clinical teaching in geriatrics.
At the University of Rhode Island, Dr. Curtin is a John Hazen White Center for Ethics and Public Service faculty fellow. She leads a two-week service-learning experience for nursing students to the Dominican Republic. She has been involved in international health and serving vulnerable populations in the Blackstone Valley area for over 20 years. Recently, she received the Nightingale Community Nurse Service Award from the Rhode Island State Nurses Association.
Dr. Curtin received her B.A. from Colby College, her M.S.N. from MGH Institute of Health Professions, and Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island. She is certified as a gerontological nurse practitioner.
