Bio
Karen's clinical experience includes diabetes education, cardiac care, disease management and medical sales. Her ongoing areas of interest are disease management, prevention and patient teaching methods.
She has worked as an outpatient diabetic educator but now devotes more time to graduate studies and her role as Graduate Assistant, serving as teaching assistant for undergraduate studies through recitation and assistance to the teaching staff. A concurrent role is to assist with various activities and administrative business associated with the RI Center for Nursing Excellence (RICNE), as well as activities associated with the RI Action Coalition, charged with implementation of the most recent Institute of Medicine recommendations.
She is enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program and aspires to work in the outpatient area in Family Practice upon graduation, where an impact can be made in primary prevention and positive behavioral change.
She is an active member of RISNA, ANA and AANP and Certified Diabetic Outpatient Educators of RI.
